X-ray and ultrasound

  • Ashbrook Equine Hospital (Web) 098

We can perform x-rays at our premises or your yard.

We have high quality ultrasonography facilities, which are used extensively for orthopaedic work and visualisation of tendons and ligaments. These are also used for investigation and assessment of abdominal and thoracic problems, particularly in the case of the acute colic patient.

This machine can also be used to assess and monitor the heart in cardiology cases, and visualise the lungs and thoracic cavity in cases of respiratory distress (e.g. pleuropneumonia and Rhodococcus Equi infection in foals).

The ultrasound is also used to examine the liver and provide visualisation for liver biopsies.
