Sarcoid removal

  • sarcoid 4

Sarcoids are a locally invasive skin tumour commonly seen on faces, chests and in the groin area.

When they are around the eyes or in areas that tack rub, they can be particularly problematic.

We would advise treating sarcoids during the cooler months, as in the hot summer months, the flies will often be attracted to healing wounds after removal. Please call one of our vets to discuss any concerning lesions.

We offer surgical laser excision of sarcoids at a time to suit you and your horse. We can also arrange treatment with chemotherapeutic medications too.

Melanoma are black pigmented tumours often seen under the tail of grey horses and ponies.  Although not as problematical as sarcoids, we can remove them in the same way if desired or if growth in that region would be concerning.
