Meet the Team
ALEX SCOTT BVMS MRCVS
Alex finds it hard to believe that he graduated in 1976 from the Royal Dick Veterinary School. Bright eyed and bushy
tailed, he learnt his trade in a small mixed practice in Ayrshire. Alex moved his young family to Cheshire and took
up a position as a farm vet with Carter and Partners. This practice then evolved into
The Willows Veterinary Group and Alex
changed direction to specialise in equine practice and build 'The Ashbrook Equine Hospital'.
Alex uses his experience, together with new skills and technologies, to treat his equine patients. Although he enjoys
all aspects of equine practice, Alex most enjoys diagnosing and treating the lame horse. Alex is lucky that time has
not soured his enthusiasm for equine practice and he still loves his job. Monday is always a good day for him!
ROGER DIXON BVMS MRCVS
Roger qualified from the Royal Dick Veterinary School in 1999. He spent 4 years working in a busy mixed practice in
Lancashire, ultimately performing the majority of the equine work within the practice. In 2003/2004, Roger migrated to
the Southern Hemisphere to spend a stud season working with one of Western Australia's leading stud vets.
Roger joined Ashbrook upon his return to the UK in 2004. He enjoys all aspects of equine work and has overall
responsibility for developing the Fertility Services. During the breeding season he is very
busy with artificial insemination and is usually found at the back of the mare examination stocks! Roger became a
Partner in 2009 and enjoys mountain walking, sailing and spending time with his young (and growing!) family.

KERRY COMB BVMS CertEP MRCVS
Kerry graduated from Glasgow University Veterinary School in 1998 and worked in mixed practice before following her true
interest - equine work. Kerry obtained her RCVS Certificate in Equine Practice in 2005.
Kerry’s main veterinary interests are surgery and lameness and her work is predominantly based in the hospital.
Outside work, she enjoys riding, which has been a passion since childhood. She was a keen eventer but motherhood now
leaves her short of time! Her daughter Zara is growing up fast and is a full time hobby but when time allows Kerry
enjoys taking her dog Bud for long walks – he often makes them longer than needed by running off!

JULIA SHRUBB MA VetMB MRCVS
Julia qualified from Cambridge Veterinary School in 2007 and stayed there to work in the first opinion practice and the
equine referral hospital. She joined Ashbrook in March 2009 and enjoys all aspects of equine practice from lameness to
geriatric medicine. Julia is now enrolled on the RCVS Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice.
Julia got her first pony at 5 years old and was an active member of the Clifton-on-Teme Pony Club until starting her
veterinary training. In her spare time, Julia can be found cycling her mountain bike up and down hills – the steeper,
the better!

VICKY ROBERTSON BVM&S CertEP MRCVS
Vicky qualified from the Royal Dick Veterinary School in 2003 and gained her RCVS Certificate in Equine Practice in
2009. After working as a mixed practice vet in Fife, Scotland, Vicky moved to Northumberland where she worked as an
equine vet for 3 years. Vicky joined the Ashbrook team in December 2009 and has special interests in lameness,
performance problems and equine dentistry.
Vicky was an active member of the Pony Club and enjoyed riding and teaching. She competed in tetrathlon at an
international level and also enjoyed eventing. Now she has relocated to Cheshire, she hopes to have more time to
run, ride and walk her dog Tess.
The Nursing Team
AVRIL MORAN VN EVN
Avril originally joined the Ashbrook nursing team in 2000 and achieved the RCVS equine nursing qualification in 2002.
She had a short break working at an equine hospital in New Zealand and then running the MRI scanner at Leahurst. After this,
Avril rejoined the team at Ashbrook. Now, Avril mainly deals with credit control and insurance claims. Most of Avril's spare
time is spent training her two dogs Ellie and Oakley and competing at Kennel Club agility competitions.
EMMA WHITLOW Student EVN
Emma has been working at Ashbrook for eleven years. She started working on the yard and quickly progressed to join the nursing
team. Emma has just started her final year of the equine nursing qualification. Outside work, Emma has enjoyed great success
with her own horses. The highlights include winning Best Arab Mare at HOYS in 2009 and the Veteran Championship at the
National Arab Show in 2010 with her mare Maiad.
AMI OLLERTON
Ami has worked on the nursing team at Ashbrook for six years. Although she enjoys all aspects of nursing, Ami's main interests
are foal care and theatre work. Outside work, she helps to keep several competition horses fit and spends any other time walking
her dog 'Jack' and going out with friends.
SOPHIE MEREDITH
Sophie has worked at Ashbrook for six years. Before joining Ashbrook, she worked at the Winsford small animal branch of the
Willows Veterinary Group. In work, her main interests are surgical nursing and radiography. Outside work hours, Sophie is a

of the Grassroots Championship.
